Below, some food for thought...
Even though the three “links” in the artist rendering above are missing from the myriad of artifacts found to date, can we definitively prove Evolution or Intelligent Design to be the fact when discussing the origin of mankind? Does the third option of deism possess any validity?
WARNING! Those with a proclivity to derive "facts" from their imagination will be incapable of accepting anything that appears hereafter.
APOLOGIA...
Firstly, some definitions:
Creation: Something made out of nothing. Any conceivable matter is something; even an idea is something. Many scientists believe that matter cannot be created or destroyed, since mankind is unable to actually form something without pre-existing matter.
Apologia: In critical writing an apology is a defense of a definite conclusion, reached by systematic examination of a subject.
Deism: A belief held by some that the "theory" of evolution and belief in a Creator can be philosophically reconciled by positing that God created matter out of which man evolved; in other words, an impersonal God is held responsible for letting off a huge fire cracker in the universe and then taking off, letting man manage and direct his own destiny. Deists are admirably unwilling to sacrifice their integrity: honest about having no proof that God does not exist but attracted by the scientific implements of evolutionists, they happily combine the two beliefs. Deists generally regard themselves as agnostics but deny any Scriptural revelation. Unitarian metaphysics, pantheism and other new-age ideas are often incorporated into any discussion about God.
Evolution: The secular humanist explanation for the origin of life and acceptance of such things as the "Big Bang" to be scientific. Micro-evolution is accepted as part of the greater macro-evolution. For example, finding a skeleton of an animal that appears to be less developed that mankind but structurally capable of walking more upright than a monkey, like a type of ape, is accepted as evidence of man's upward transition from a less sophisticated life-form.
Intelligent Design: The Judeo-Christian explanation for the origin of life and its rejection of such things as the "Big Bang" being scientific. Micro-evolution (q.v.), however, is accepted exclusively. An instance of intelligent design where both camps agree is finding an piece of shard that appears to have been formed into an arrowhead. The object is recognized as possessing intelligent design, such as by an Indian, since the object possess symmetry and contrasts with natural shard.
Logic: That which stands by absolute or pure reason. Thinking that is consistent with reality and contrasts insanity. If something is logical, it cannot be reasonably disputed: if one argues with logic and wins then that something was not logic. Logic may be regarded as a yardstick by which to measure truth or fact. An assumption lacking logic essentially lacks veracity.
Macro-evolution: Same as "Evolution"; for example, the belief that life developed into more complex forms through cellular mutation, despite all known genetic mutation in animal life to be degenerative (debilitating deformity, cancer, Alzheimer's, etc.).
Micro-evolution: a term that denotes changes strictly within a species. For example, the crossbreeding of dogs to obtain a third type. No matter how many times and types of dogs are mixed, the offspring is always canine. Crossing species is impossible (e.g., dog and cat).
Science: Right knowledge that is derived accurately by proven or trustworthy means, verifiable and consistent with logic (q.v.), and able to withstand the test of time. Any information outside the domain of science properly should be called a theory, hypothesis, idea or notion. Since exclusive triune God can be verified by the act of genuine repentance and honest acceptance of Christ, and evidenced by the tansformation of character, the existence of God can be referred to as scientific fact. God can be proved, but only to self. Rejection of the latter without personal investigation constitutes rejection of science; and, pardon me for pointing out, it also amounts to intolerance and atheistic bias.
To the best of man's knowledge, only two possibilities exist when accounting for matter: either it was always there, or it was created. Adherents of Intelligent Design opt for creation; evolutionists must opt for the former; since the dictates of logic have it that if matter were not always there, it came into existence, which amounts to creation, and therefore must be rejected in order to embrace Darwinism.
There is absolutely nothing, not even a void, between something and nothing, just as there is nothing between even the smallest number and zero. Nor is there anything between the largest number imaginable and infinity. Eternity is the antithesis of time. I preface my argument with these facts, since so many folks have insisted that "there are no absolutes!" When I am told "there are no absolutes," I can only respond with, "Are you absolutely sure?"
The "Big Bang" theory logically requires matter to have always existed, and that a precise formation of chemistry produced a mother-of-nature explosion.
Null hypothesis. Since we cannot prove or disprove creation, we must either prove or disprove--by logic--evolution; only thusly can we prove or disprove Intelligent Design. Without a Designer, there can be no Intelligence behind the design of man, no matter how ordered and complex man is.
If matter always existed, we are confronted with a myth-busting question: Why did the "Big Bang" occur when agnostics and atheists insist it had occurred? After all, the explosion out of which we are said to have evolved had forever to happen!
We can count backwards, since we have a starting point, being here and now. And we can devise all kinds of methods and instruments to estimate how far back in time the "Big Bang" supposedly occurred, and hopefully not become like our predecessors, found by more sober scientists in the future to be comically in error. But why would a big bang and an ensuing process of evolution take forever to happen? Forever means no starting point. We use the expression, "It's taking forever!" But can something actually take forever to happen? Logically, no. If something did take forever to happen then the word forever would no longer mean, well, forever. Forever excludes the idea of beginning or end.
Another impossible hurdle to jump in order to support evolution theory (but always taught as fact) is to show that logically time can be inserted into eternity, by dating the "Big Bang." Time is a limited entity and therefore antithetical to eternity. The moment we limit eternity, we no longer have a forever. All the pedantry, rationalization and intellectualization in the world is no match for simple logic.
Conceiving time and eternity requires a combination of linear and abstract thinking, a intimate collaboration of the left and right hemisphere of the brain. Technologically minded Byzantines or Westerners are so disadvantaged in this regard that only rationalization can rescue pride from intrapsychic depersonalization. But can we honestly be content with merely defending our bias?
More simply put, if matter had no starting point, could the "Big Bang" have happened? Again, at least logically, no.
In more tangible terms, can you be half-finished knitting a sweater if you never started? Can you be driving down the road if you never began the trip? If sane, we must answer no.
Conclusion: So, if we could not have evolved as a result of the "Big Bang," we are stuck with the insult of the alternative explanation. And what an insult it is to pride, to be a mere mortal and not the measure of all things. We are to be denied faith in our own "wisdom" and impressive devices, unable to write infallible text books and profess in class scientifically the mechanics of creation. With Darwinian evolution--even deism--diametrically opposed by logic, we are left with a reality so objectionable that a chaotic or chance "theory" which we cannot begin to scientifically prove is embraced in its place. And we must not forget that Darwin himself in the end admitted his theory will be practically impossible to validate.
If satisfying one's bias is more important than accepting logic, more important than rejecting the greatest hoax man has ever concocted in his entire histroy, then--through the power of rationalization--one can indeed still worship imperfect science and reject Intelligent Design and its insulting-to-pride implications.
Man can pick up an old Indian arrow head among a scattering of shale and recognize intelligent design (simple but effective), look at a coin and recognize intelligent design (more complex), look at a computer with the same recognition (even more complex) then gaze in the mirror and abandon the logical progression that he too is intelligently designed (one cell of his alone is more complex than he can comprehend). The retinaculum about the ankles alone is sufficient evidence of Intelligent Design," since nurses are taught the same technique for bandaging in medical school. And to what do otherwise intelligent minds attribute our complexity? A fluke!...primordial slime!...anything but the truth.
How paradoxical that pride degrades self to such a low level. Truth is always paradoxical when revealed, and it is only visible to the humble of heart.
Our ego prefers the seduction of setting our own course for the future, guided by our own moral compass, and rejecting that which we cannot control. We loathe conservatism but dare not recognize the fruit of liberalism's "progressive" thinking...what an utter mess we have made of this world since effectively separating church from state but accepting false religions under the banner of diversity and tolerance...how no closer to peace our faith in self has brought us. No, we are further from peace than ever. And when the last of the lambs have been slaughtered by the lions who unwittingly serve their furtive god, the "prince and the power of the air," who then to blame? Tragically, pride will always find something other than itself to blame.
Popes, priests, rabbis and pastors have historically failed miserably to represent God. If held up without interfering humanism Christ the Messiah will attract any soul that seeks peace, which only comes as result of reconciliation with our Creator. Who can argue that despite all the socialistic impositions and meddling of the United Nations we are not on the brink of destroying ourselves. Pride must blame believers in God, ever viewed as a hindrance to progress, and always deserving to be called names, "the religious right," "extreme right-wingers" (truly everything looks extreme right from the extreme left). And once the preachers of "diversity" and "tolerance" use their subtle weapon of political correctness to effectively silence anyone who disagrees with them, when all traces of genuine Godliness are expunged from or society, and when the false, ecumenical church is fully established, only then will the most impressive man that ever lived paradoxically destroy most of mankind through human peace.
Which denomination will represent Babylon, the Mother of Harlots...which sits on many waters (many races of people)...and on seven mountains (her power in all seven continents)? Hint: the doctrine of the ecumenical church consists of "iron and clay," which cannot mix. The "iron," or God's two-edged sword of truth, is what attract people to enter her decorated doors; the clay, or her man-made traditions, is what makes it possible for her members to unwittingly worship the queen of the heavens, bow before a blasphemous man, justify heresy, and resume slaughter of the real saints in Christ. On her payroll are religious astronomers who teach evolution in great universities. Already her anger against evangelicals is simmering. Selah.
